StarCraft Pro Player Jaedong to Retire after BlizzCon

Legendary Brood War player and current member of the Evil Geniuses StarCraft 2 line-up Lee “Jaedong” Jae-dong is officially calling it quits and retiring as a professional player.

Jae-dong, known as both “The Tyrant” and the “God of Destruction,” will retire after putting on his player jersey “one last time” at BlizzCon this coming weekend. According to a recent post on his Facebook page, Jae-dong will be returning to Brood War, and will be streaming his play.

The Tyrant has also recently discovered League of Legends and Overwatch and plans to continue playing them, just “not too competitively.”

To better understand Jae-dong’s position in the StarCraft scene, check out this incredible write-up on him from the folks over at TeamLiquid.

“I have absolutely no regrets,” says Jae-dong. “About the things I've done up to now, I have absolute none, not a single regret. Right now, all I have is feeling of incredible gratitude. I was just someone who worked hard at gaming, and all I did was play games a bit better than others.”

“I made a lot of money, and was loved by many fans, so I don't have any regrets or lingering thoughts about any decisions I made in the past, or any positions I was put in. I'm just extremely thankful.”

A special commemorative Jae-dong shirt has been created by EvilGeniuses. You can purchase it over on the official designbyhumans website.
