Virtus.pro Returns to League of Legends With New Roster

Virtus.pro has announced the lineup of its new League of Legends roster, returning to professional LoL play with an eye to competing in the LCL Open Cup and in the next Continental League season.

Only three of the five players are confirmed as “official” at this point, with the other two described as “stand-ins.”

The three official players are Ivan "Paranoia" Tipukhov in the Mid position, Daniel "Blasting" Kudrin in Carry, and Alexander "SaNTaS" Lifashin as Support.

Tipukhov comes from TORNADO RoX and Team Empire, while Kudrin has a background at Team Just and Vega Squadron. Lifashin also played for Team Empire and Vaevictis eSports.

In the stand-in roles are top-laner Rafael "Doxy" Adl Zarabi, also from Vega Squadron and Na’Vi, and Jungler Jonathan "SezzeR" Villebro from SK Gaming.

Virtus.pro general manager Roman Dvoryankin explained in a statement that “Riot Games are systematically developing the League of Legends in CIS countries” and “as the region's leading organization, we can't stay outside of that process.”

“However, we remain focused on our key disciplines: CS:GO, where we have the best team in the world, and a Dota 2 roster, which have most recently showed prominent performance on the EU qualifiers for The Boston Major.”

“We're entering the LCL with a young squad consisting of promising players. I'm sure that they will be able to show solid results in the second half of the year, if a correct approach will be taken".

The new team’s first game will be in the LCL Open Cup in Moscow on November 20th.
