Here at Unikrn, there are two things we value most: Esports and our community. Esports is something that everyone who is reading this embraces in one way or another. We at Unikrn are no different. It was only a matter of time before we strengthened our ties to esports, and that day is finally here.
As such, we are very proud to announce our investment into the newly formed German CS:GO team: BIG.
Formed by former mousesports, Alternate aTTaX, and NRG players, BIG is here to prove that German Counter-Strike is still a force to be reckoned with.
Our CEO, Rahul Sood has shared his thoughts on the matter:
“Initially we were approached by BIG, asking for a sponsorship. We immediately fell in love with the idea of supporting a German all-star team. We were discussing sponsorships for multiple teams in the recent past, but somehow it never felt right. We even discussed the possibility of team ownership with some of our star investors.
"We met this dream halfway with BIG. We are not only partnering up with BIG, we are actually investing in them! We want to create value for the team, but at the same time, we are completely hands-off when it comes to the daily operation or anything roster related. We support them through financial backing and business development!"
- Rahul Sood, CEO of Unikrn
Fatih "gob b" Dayik is a name that everyone should be familiar with. Known for his in-game leading expertise in both 1.6 and CS:GO, Fatih led mousesports to multiple great placings in both iterations of the game. After playing for a while with the North American mix team NRG, he now returns to his homeland to lead a German team to the top again.
After his short tenure of coaching teams such as Nihilum and Gamers2, Nikola "LEGIJA" Ninic returned to competitive play in the former NRG roster alongside his old teammates. Today, he returns to his home region to help build the German dream. His experience and intelligent plays as BIG’s support player will be essential in cementing BIG as a structured and strong team.
Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz can be considered as one of the best German CS:GO players. Showing impressive performances against many world class teams, Johannes returns alongside Fatih and Nikola to take the German scene to new heights. His improvement while on NRG spells a great future for BIG, and the possibility of him taking his game to new heights.
Johannes "nex" Maget is the promised child of the German scene. Although he showed the world his prowess while on mousesports, his rise to superstardom was unfortunately halted after a drop in form, resulting in the team benching him for several months. But for no longer. Johannes is back to unleash his potential and become the superstar he was destined to be.
If you kept an eye on the German scene, Kevin "keev" Bartholomäus is a name you have definitely noticed. The star AWPer formerly played for Alternate aTTaX, and was considered to be their best player. Thanks to his talent, aTTaX secured many top placings and even won ESWC 2016 after an insane performance from Kevin. We will be counting on his skill with the big green gun to lock down the map and carry BIG to that 16th round.
Long live the #neuedeutschehoffnung!
