Dota 2 Teams Invited to Kiev Major Revealed
The Dota 2 Kiev Major is right around the corner and as such, the eight teams to receive direct invitations to the event have been announced.
All in all, the list isn’t too surprising with Major regulars like Team Liquid, Wings Gaming and Evil Geniuses making a reappearance. There are a few curveballs though, with Boston Major runners-up Ad Finem receiving an invite despite some lacklustre play since the event.
The eight teams invited to the Kiev Major 2017 are:
- Wings Gaming
- Ad Finem
- Team Liquid
- Evil Geniuses
- Digital Chaos
- Team VG.J
The eight invitees will be joined by eight teams advancing through the regional qualifiers. This means that with Kiev’s addition of the CIS and South American regions, each region will only have one qualification slot rather than the usual two, with China and South East Asia being exceptions.
Kiev Major Prize Pool
The Kiev Major will take place from April 27-30 with a prize pool of a cool $3 million. The winning team will also take home $1 million for themselves. The Open Qualifiers begin today and will run until March 9.
"This sounds super PC, but I think all the teams that were invited are insanely good," DC’s coach William “Blitz” Lee told theScore esports.
"The team that looked the weakest coming into this tournament knocked us out of the first major, and so nobody is to be overlooked. These are all fantastic, proven LAN teams, with experience under their belts. For me anyways this is the most stacked invite list I've seen in a while."
