Intel Extreme Masters heading down under for IEM Sydney

With Season 11 of IEM just wrapping up on the weekend, ESL are keeping us on the edge of our seats with the announcement of a new event: IEM Sydney. Kicking off Season 12, the Intel Extreme Masters are making their way down under for the first time and will feature top Counter-Strike: GO teams from around the world.

Two teams have already been invited to attend: SK Gaming, who finished second at the EPL in San Paulo and IEM Oakland; and Renegades, an Australian team who were bought and moved to Michigan by Boston Celtics player Jonas Jerebko. ESL promise “further invites and qualifier information” will follow in the near future.

"Having been to five different continents is a badge of honor for our historic competition,” VP Pro Gaming at ESL, Michal Blicharz has said.

“Australia has been an attractive market for us as part of our global expansion of the Intel Extreme Masters brand. We look forward to bringing Intel Extreme Masters to new global audiences and making history for esports in Australia.”

IEM Sydney ticket sales

The teams will be fighting for a slice of $260,000 AUD in the Qudos Bank Arena, a space with capacity for more than 18,000 spectators. IEM Sydney will run for two days on May 6 and 7, while tickets will be on sale from March 13 at 10AM AEDT.

As usual at IEM events, attendees will not only have the chance to see the best CS:GO players compete but will also have the opportunity to meet their favourite players at signing sessions and try out the latest games, gadgets and Intel’s latest VR-ready products. Check out the official site for more details and countdown until tickets are available.
